These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) apply to all services provided by Freelance Mechanics, a freelance mechanic service (“we”, “us”, “our”). By using our website, booking system, or mechanical services, you (“the customer” / “you”) agree to these Terms.


1. About Us

We operate as independent freelance mechanics offering mobile and workshop-based vehicle repair and maintenance. We accept bookings through our website and third-party platforms including BookMyGarage.


2. Booking Process

2.1 Booking via Our Website or BookMyGarage

  • All bookings made through our website or BookMyGarage are considered requests until confirmed by us.

  • You will receive confirmation via email, SMS, or phone.

  • We reserve the right to decline or reschedule any booking.

2.2 Information You Provide

You must provide accurate information regarding:

  • Vehicle make, model, year, and registration

  • Reported faults or required services

  • Address details (for mobile bookings)

Incorrect information may result in delays, additional costs, or cancellation.


3. Pricing & Payments

3.1 Quotes

  • Prices displayed on our website or BookMyGarage are estimates based on the information provided.

  • Final pricing may vary depending on diagnostics, parts required, or additional labour.

3.2 Payment Terms

  • Payment is due immediately upon completion of work unless otherwise agreed.

  • Accepted payment methods: cash, bank transfer, or online payment (if available).

3.3 Deposits

We may require a deposit for:

  • Large repair jobs

  • Special-order parts

  • High-value bookings Deposits are non-refundable once parts have been ordered.

3.4 Additional Charges

Additional charges may apply for:

  • Extended diagnostics

  • Additional labour

  • Non-standard parts

  • Delays caused by inaccessible vehicles or incorrect details


4. Cancellations & Rescheduling

4.1 By the Customer

  • Cancellations within 24 hours of the booking may incur a cancellation fee.

  • Missed appointments or failure to provide access will result in a call-out charge.

4.2 By Us

We may cancel or reschedule appointments due to:

  • Weather conditions (for mobile work)

  • Safety concerns

  • Parts availability

  • Unexpected circumstances

We will notify you as soon as possible.


5. Mobile Mechanic Service Conditions

For mobile repairs:

  • A safe, level working area must be provided.

  • You must have permission if the work is carried out at a third-party property.

  • We may refuse service if the environment is unsafe or unsuitable.

Any wasted journey due to unsuitable working conditions may incur a call-out fee.


6. Parts & Warranty

6.1 Parts

  • We may use OEM, aftermarket, or reconditioned parts depending on availability and customer preference.

  • Special-order parts cannot be returned unless faulty.

6.2 Warranty

  • Labour warranty: 3 months unless otherwise stated.

  • Parts warranty: As provided by the manufacturer or supplier.

  • Warranty is void if faults arise from:

    • Misuse

    • Neglect

    • Further unauthorised repairs

    • Modifications made after our work


7. Diagnostics & Fault-Finding

7.1 Diagnostic Limitations

Diagnostics may not always reveal the full extent of a fault. Additional tests or strip-downs may be required.

7.2 Non-Refundable Diagnostics

Diagnostic fees are non-refundable, even if:

  • You choose not to proceed with repairs.

  • The diagnostic reveals no fault.


8. Vehicle Condition & Existing Faults

We are not responsible for:

  • Existing faults unrelated to the booked service

  • Consequential damage caused by underlying issues

  • Failures occurring during testing (e.g., weak components)


9. Customer Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Ensure the vehicle is accessible

  • Remove personal belongings where needed

  • Provide truthful information about symptoms or history

  • Notify us of any warning lights, leaks, or mechanical issues


10. Liability

10.1 Limited Liability

We are not liable for:

  • Loss of earnings or inconvenience caused by delays or cancellations

  • Damage caused by pre-existing defects

  • Issues arising after repairs due to unrelated mechanical failures

10.2 Exclusions

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for:

  • Fraud

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence


11. Completion of Work

Work is considered complete when:

  • The booked repair/service has been carried out to a professional standard

  • We have notified you that the vehicle is ready or the job is completed

If you fail to collect or pay for your vehicle, storage fees may apply.


12. MOT Failures

If a vehicle fails its MOT after repairs, we are not automatically liable unless the failure is directly related to work we carried out.


13. Use of BookMyGarage

By booking through BookMyGarage, you also agree to their platform terms. We are not responsible for:

  • Website errors

  • Payment processing on their platform

  • Technical faults on BookMyGarage


14. Privacy & Data Protection

We collect and store personal data in compliance with GDPR. This includes:

  • Contact details

  • Vehicle details

  • Booking and payment history

We do not share your data with third parties except for essential service providers or legal requirements.


15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Updates will be posted on our website with a new “Last Updated” date.


16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be handled by the courts of this jurisdiction.
